The last couple of weeks I did take the 2CV apart.
- I did take every thing outoff the body, chairs, steering wheel,
instruments, levers of the handbrake and heating, the speedometer
cable, ect.
- Afer this I took all the doors out, the hood, the bonnet and
took the roof off the car (although it did not come off in one
piece. The material was very old and stiff).
- All wiring was disconnected from the engine and taken outoff
the car.
- All Screws bolting the body to the chassis were removed by
sawing the screw head off (there was no other way since rust of 36
years prevented the screws from being loosened).
- Furthermore I toke out the rusted floor plates since there was
no way these could be saved.
- Now the body could be lifted from the chassis.
When the body was lifted the chassis could be dismantled.
- The petrol tank was unbolted with the 4 srews.
- The headlight assambly was taken off.
- Than the chassis was supported on some wood to take the front
and rear wheel assemblies off completely.
- To take the rear wheel assembly off, the rear wheel flexible
brake pipes had to be disconnected first.
- Than the engine was taken out by loosening the rubber
suspension pads, 3 pieces, two at the front and one at the gearbox
and disconnecting the hydraulic brake pipe. When the engine was
taken outoff the chassis the axles came off automatically.
- The pins connecting the suspension arms to the front and rear
wheel assembly were taken out.
- The front wheel assembly could be loosened with the 4
srews.
- Now the petrol pipe and brake pipe were taken off the
chassis.
- The brake assembly was taken off the chassis leaving the
chassis ready for storage.
Next; work on the chassis.
