A dike warehouse is a storage shed for the storage of materials, such as shovels, wheelbarrows, buckets and sandbags. These were used for strengthening the dikes in times of flood risk or to repair a damaged dike.
The dike warehouses along the Maas and the Waal strains mainly from the 19th century. They were build on regular distances along the dikes. These buildings stood on the dike or against the inside of the dike.
The model is designed to be printed on 160 grams waterresistant photopaper. Additionally some cardstock is needed (0,5mm thick).
Een dijkmagazijn is een schuur voor de opslag van dijkmaterialen, zoals schoppen, kruiwagens, emmers en zandzakken. Deze werden gebruikt om de dijken bij overstromingsgevaar te versterken of bij beschadiging te herstellen.
De dijkmagazijnen langs de Maas en de Waal stammen voornamelijk uit de 19e eeuw. Zij werden op regelmatige afstanden langs de dijken gebouwd. De gebouwen stonden op de dijk, of binnendijks op een vluchtheuvel tegen de dijk.
Het model is ontworpen om op 160 grams watervast fotopapier af te drukken. Voor het bouwen van het model is verder nog karton van 0,5 mm dik benodigd.
